The cluster is estimated to be 3.5 million years old,<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/IC_1590#cite_note-1\">[1]<\/a><\/sup> making it relatively young compared to other <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Star_systems\">star systems<\/a>. Inside the cluster is a multiple-star system that emits light which helps give the dust in NGC 281 its glow.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/IC_1590#cite_note-2\">[2<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-transform:none\"><strong>NGC 281<\/strong>, <strong>IC 11<\/strong> or <strong>Sh2-184<\/strong> is a bright <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Emission_nebula\">emission nebula<\/a> and part of an <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/H_II_region\">H II region<\/a> in the northern constellation of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cassiopeia_constellation\">Cassiopeia<\/a> and is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Milky_Way\">Milky Way<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Perseus_Spiral_Arm\">Perseus Spiral Arm<\/a>. This 20\u00d730 <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Arc_minute\">arcmin<\/a> sized nebulosity is also associated with <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Open_cluster\">open cluster<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/IC_1590\">IC 1590<\/a>, several <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bok_globule\">Bok globules<\/a> and the multiple star, B 1.
